Feb 2011 - European School of Osteopathy opens new Diagnostic Ultrasound Clinic
The European School of Osteopathy has now opened its Diagnostic Ultrasound Clinic for the assessment of Musculo-Skeletal Disorders. The ability to assess the structure and function of joint systems and their surrounding structures has long been an integral part of practice for osteopaths, chiropractors and physiotherapists. The latest developments in ultrasound unit technology now make it possible for the ESO to offer manual therapists an imaging service to further help the assessment of Musculo-Skeletal disorders.
The diagnostic service is headed by a Consultant Imaging Specialist, with over twenty years experience in orthopaedics and clinical research in joint diseases.
Helen Jenkins, Head of Clinic at the ESO explains why they have invested in this area: " Ultrasound imaging is the safest and least intrusive of all the imaging procedures. This means there is very little risk to set against the benefit of obtaining high quality images which can contribute to the referring clinician's understanding of the underlying anatomical and pathological features of the patient's condition. In many cases an enhanced understanding of the patient's condition could well lead to more effective treatment and management strategies for the patient."
The imaging process takes approximately thirty minutes and costs just £50. Afterwards a written report is sent to the referring clinician, usually within three working days of the consultation, allowing assessment and care to be implemented swiftly.
June 2011 - West End Director moves back to Rochester .... and is looking for local stars
Every year over 11,000 people from all over the world apply to the 22 drama schools in the UK to get one of the 1000 places – that's harder than getting into either Oxford or Cambridge.
For those that feel they have the talent and ability to become a student at one of these academies – how to do they maximise their chances of getting in?
That's where Acting Technique comes in – set up by Karen Louise Hebden – a former student of Kings School Rochester, RADA graduate, Artistic Director of The Derby Playhouse and now West End Director – Karen has recently returned to live in Rochester. When she is not working in the West End or travelling to the regional theatres to watch her stage adaptations of classic novels she is helping talented young people from Kent follow in her footsteps and gain that all important first step in the profession.
As well as offering private coaching and half day workshops Karen is holding a week long course this summer. Bringing to Kent fellow West End directors and leading actors to work with local students to improve their overall technique.
